947 East Avenue Unit 4, Rochester, NY 14607

Property Description

This is your chance to own a piece of Rochester history! Welcome to 947 East Avenue Unit 4, a storybook two-story condo in the historical Bishops House. Built in 1903 and designed by architect Leon Stern for Frank Ritter, owner of the patent for the dental chair and founder of Ritter Dental Manufacturing Company. Ritter originally built the home for his daughters (whose likeness can be seen on the staircase in the grand foyer). Downstairs features a living room with soaring ceilings, stately mantle, herringbone hardwood floors, original woodwork and tall windows letting light in from all angles. The eat-in kitchen boasts brand new appliances and flooring, and a private entrance. Head up the spiral staircase that leads to the large bedroom and elegant bathroom with arched shower detailing, and original tile and fixtures. You'll find multiple closets, one with a cozy private balcony overlooking the back of the home. The jewel of this floor is the spacious private deck (only used by this unit), perfect for morning coffee or evening cocktail hour overlooking East Avenue and the George Eastman Museum. The second floor can also be accessed directly by the staircase in the foyer. Make the heart of East Avenue your new home or artist studio! Long term rentals permitted. Additional dedicated storage space in locked closet in the basement, as well as free laundry. Two dedicated parking spaces in the parking lot. Heat included in HOA dues. Open House Thursday October 8th from 5-7 p.m. Delayed negotiations Tuesday October 13th at noon.
